Ħamrun Spartans have added another Brazilian player to their squad when they reached an agreement to sign midfielder Talison, the Times of Malta can reveal.
Coach Alessandro Zinnari was keen to add a more offensive midfielder to his squad and the Spartans set their sights on bringing Talison to the club.
The Brazilian arrived in Malta last weekend and attended his first training session with the Spartans on Monday as they continued to step up their preparations ahead of next week’s UEFA Champions first qualifying clash against Gibraltar side Lincoln Red Imps.
For Talison this will be his first experience outside Brazilian football.
He came through the youth ranks of Brazilian giants Flamengo and also played one season with the U-17 selection of Sao Paolo.
From then, he moved to Fernandopoli, Bandeirante, and Italbirito.
Earlier this year, Talison moved to Anapolis where he made 19 appearances, scored two goals and provided two assists.
Talison is the sixth Brazilian player to join Ħamrun Spartans this summer after the Malta champions signed goalkeeper Celio, defender Mayron, winger Wendell Barros, and forward duo Raphael Lopes and Vitor Marin.
Besides these Brazilian players, Ħamrun Spartans have also signed wing back Mattias Ellul and midfielder Daniel Letherby, who both were on the books of Santa Lucia last season.
The Spartans will make their first competitive appearance of the new season on July 9 when they host Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League first qualifying round, first leg at the Centenary Stadium.
