Maltese representatives Birkirkara will face Montenegro’s Breznica for the second straight year in the UEFA Women’s Champions League following Friday’s draw.
The Stripes will face Breznica in one of Group 4’s semi-finals with the winner to face Belgium’s Anderlecht or Red Star Belgrade of Serbia with a second-round spot at stake.
The losers of both semi-finals will take on each other in a third-place ranking match.
The matches, which will be organised in one country (host yet to be confirmed), will take place on September 4 and September 7.
Last season, Birkirkara hosted the mini-tournament, with Edith Garcia’s last-gasp goal earning the Stripes a 1-0 win over Breznica in the semi-final.
In the final, Birkirkara lost to Switzerland’s giants Zurich.
Birkirkara will be led by coach Vince Galea, taking over from Jose Borg who steered the Stripes to a domestic treble in the 2023/2024 campaign.
