Zurich, AEK Athens among potential opponents for Malta clubs in Conference League third round

Floriana could face Switzerland's Zurich in the Conference League third round.

Ħamrun Spartans, Floriana and Sliema Wanderers have discovered their potential opponents should they make it to the third qualifying round of the Conference League.

The draw was split into two, the Champions path and the Main path.

In the Champions path, Ħamrun will face Northern Ireland’s Larne should they overcome Ballkani of Kosovo in the second qualifying round.

In the Main path, Floriana would face the winner of the tie between Shelbourne, of the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland’s giants Zurich.

Darren Abdilla’s side, though, have a difficult task in the second qualifying round as they will take on Portugal’s top-flight team Vitoria.

Meanwhile, Sliema Wanderers, who face Armenia’s Noah in the second qualifying round, could face Greece’s AEK Athens in the third round.

The Greek side, on their part, will have to overcome Andorra’s Inter D’Escaldes in the second round.

DRAW

Ballkani (Kosovo)/Ħamrun Spartans vs Larne (Northern Ireland).

Zurich (Switzerland)/Shelbourne (Ireland) vs Vitoria (Portugal)/Floriana.

Noah (Armenia)/Sliema vs AEK Athens (Greece)/Inter D’Escaldes (Andorra).

Matches will be played on August 8 and August 15.
