Maltese young player Kaysia Micallef will continue her career in Italy as she will be joining Sampdoria on a one-year deal.
In an official announcement last week, her club Swieqi United wrote, “It is with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of our young star, Kaysia Micallef, who has accepted an exciting opportunity with Sampdoria Women!
Kaysia has left a lasting impression, shining brightly in both our youth and senior teams, earning club as well as personal accolades along the way.
While we’ll miss her incredible presence on the pitch, we believe this leap will propel her career to new heights. Keep chasing your dreams Kaysia, we’re all cheering you on!”
Micallef, 17, was named the Assikura Women’s Youth League player of the year for last season.
Moreover, she was also a key player in the senior team which placed second in the national championship during the 2023/2024 campaign.
Micallef has also represented the national team at youth level.
She will be joining the U-19’s side which will launch its campaign on September 15 against Hellas Verona.
