A group of gymnasts from Ritmica Gymnastics Club Malta recently took part in the San Marino Cup 2024.
Lauren Agius, Chezonelle Azzopardi, Mariia Prudnikova, Therese Amélie Vassallo, Emily Vella, Nadine Zammit, Chloe Martine Cooper, Katya Miller, Emma Fava, Olesya Vasilko and Mireille Grima formed part of the club’s contingent in San Marino.
Coach Elena Vella spearheaded the contingent and also included team judge Noemi Dulzetto.
For the Maltese gymnasts this competition served as a good experience in their development process as they look to establish themselves in international competitions.
The Ritmica Gymnastics Club Malta contingent included four athletes who form part of the Maltese Olympic Committee Youth Development scheme. These are Lauren Agius, Chezonelle Azzopardi, Mariia Prudnikova and Therese Amélie Vassallo.
In the 2013-14 class Vella took first place among participants from GSSE countries.
Chezonelle Georgette Azzopardi and Mariia Prudnikova were in action in the 2011-12 category.
Azzopardi managed 18.900 in hoops and 19.200 in clubs.
On the other hand, Prudnikova scored 17.700 in hoops and 18.350 in clubs.
Therese Amelie Vassallo and Lauren Agius were registered to take part in the Junior A category.
Vassallo scored 19.650 points in hoops and 18.050 points in the clubs.
On her part, Agius managed 17.800 points in hoops and 19.450 points in the club apparatus.
In the senior class, Katya Miller scored 21.350 in hoops and 18.850 in clubs. She placed third among GSSE gymnasts.
During their stay in San Marino, the Maltese athletes had the opportunity to meet Polish gymnast Liliana Lewinska, the 2023 Junior World Club and Ribbon champion.
