Joint leaders Birkirkara and Hibernians will face off this week in a highly anticipated clash in the Assikura Women’s league.
Both teams are tied on 10 points, with Birkirkara drawing 0-0 against Mġarr United last weekend, while Hibernians securing a 3-0 win over Valletta.
Vince Galea’s Birkirkara has conceded just one goal this season, while Hibernians – coached by Kenneth Costantino – boast a perfect defensive record, yet to let in a goal.
Joelma of Hibernians leads the league’s scoring chart with six goals. On the other hand, Alishia Cassar is Birkirkara’s best scorer with four goals.
Mġarr United take on San Ġwann, with both on six points.
The Greens, who have also kept a clean sheet in every single match, are at the back of a brave display against Birkirkara having played with 10 players for almost an hour of play.
San Ġwann, on the other hand, lost to Swieqi United in their last outing with Hailey Russell scoring their only goal of the match.
The American forward, who last season was on the books of Birkirkara, has already found the net five times in this campaign.
Dorianne Theuma’s Swieqi United face Lija Athletic as they look to lift themselves in the standings.
The Owls have scored two wins in the opening four matches so far.
Lija Athletic are on six points, having won against Mtarfa last weekend.
Elsewhere, Mtarfa – who are yet to record a single point – take on Valletta, who have just one point after four matches.
