Birkirkara bounced back from last week’s defeat against Hibernians, beating Valletta 3-0.
The Stripes have now joined the Paolites at the top of the league with 13 points, albeit Hibernians are yet to play this weekend.
Valletta, on their part, remain second bottom with four points after falling to their fourth defeat of the season.
Birkirkara forged ahead after just eight minutes through Brazilian forward Erica Bispo.
They made sure of the win after the break, with Raina Giusti grabbing a brace.
