Helped Sliema win league and cup double last summer
Neptunes ASC have completed a major transfer coup as they have brought back to their club talented goalkeeper Matthew Castillo, from Exiles ASC.
Last summer, Castillo was on loan at neighbouring rivals Sliema ASC and enjoyed a strong season with the Blues.
Castillo managed to secure a regular first-team place for the final seven matches of the season and helped the side end a long wait to secure a memorable league and cup double at the expense of San Ġiljan.
Castillo’s contract with Exiles expired at the end of the season and had hoped that he would make his move to Sliema ASC, the club he started his career with, a permanent one.
However, talks with Sliema ASC failed to reap an agreement and the transfer fell through.
Neptunes immediately entered the race and managed to agree terms with Castillo who signed a four-year deal.
For Castillo, this transfer marks a return to his former club Neptunes with whom he played earlier in his career.
Meanwhile, Neptunes goalkeeper Alan Borg Cole is set to leave the Balluta Bay club and is set to join Exiles ASC.
