Malta to face Balzan FC in practice match on Thursday ahead of Moldova showdown

The Malta national team will be playing a training match against Premier League side Balzan in preparation of Sunday’s UEFA Nations League clash against Moldova.

Malta was due to face Turkmeninstan on Thursday at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium, but the Malta Football Association said on Tuesday that the match has been called off because the Turkmenistan FA was unable to secure the necessary authorisation from the country’s authorities to travel to Malta.

The cancellation of the match left the national team short of match practice, particularly given that they are under the charge of new coach Davide Mazzotta who would want to test his tactical play before Sunday’s crucial UEFA Nations League match against Moldova.

To this end, the Malta FA managed to arrange a friendly match against Balzan so that Mazzotta can have a look at his players before Sunday’s match.

The game will be held at the National Stadium behind closed doors and will be held over three periods of 30 minutes each, with kick off set at 6pm.
