Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala still hasn’t recovered from a hip injury and will miss Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with Stuttgart, while defender Dayot Upamecano is a doubt, coach Vincent Kompany said on Friday.
Musiala missed Bayern’s last game and two Germany fixtures, while Upamecano sat out France’s Nations League games with a hamstring issue.
“Jamal Musiala will not be there, for Upa (Upamecano) we still have to wait. Otherwise everyone came back fit from the international break,” Kompany told reporters on Friday.
Kompany did not indicate whether the duo would be fit for Wednesday’s Champions League match at Barcelona.
The coach said Japanese international central defender Hiroki Ito had received a setback in his return from injury, having withdrawn from training.
“It’s normal for a player who had surgery in pre-season. Sometimes you go a step backwards to then make two steps forward,” he said.
Ito, who was operated on for a metatarsal issue, is yet to play a competitive match this season.
Bayern are equal on points with RB Leipzig at the top of the table but are ahead on goal difference. Stuttgart are ninth, five points behind the leaders.
