Birkirkara notched their ninth win on the trot when they overcame the challenge of Naxxar Lions while Mosta sealed their place in the top six following a 2-1 win over Melita.
The Stripes battled more than expected to overcome the challenge of Naxxar.
It was the Lions who created the first chance when a shot by Nikolai Micallef ended just wide.
While at the other end, goalkeeper Matthias Debono did well to push away a Maicon’s shot from a free-kick.
Micallef was unlucky not to put Birkirkara ahead when his header came off the upright.
However, it was Birkirkara who struck the winner on 86 minutes when Maia fired home from close in following a corner action.
At the Centenary Stadium, Mosta assured themselves of a Top Six spot when they beat Melita 2-1.
Mosta took the lead on 18 minutes when Okereke sped through inside the area and beat goalkeeper Gosef Mizzi from close in.
Melita fought back and levelled matters five minutes later. Andre Pena Da Costa stormed inside the area and fired home with an angled shot.
The Blues grabbed the winner on 39 minutes when Nathan Agius avoided his marker to fire home.
