Birkirkara are looking to sign Floriana forward Kemar Reid during this month’s transfer window, the Times of Malta can confirm.
The Stripes are looking to bolster their squad as they look to mount a strong challenge for the Premier League title.
Birkirkara have put on an impressive showing in the first phase of the Opening Round, winning nine of the 12 matches played, dropping just five points.
However, the team struggled for consistency in the Top 6 and were leapfrogged by Floriana to finish second overall.
Birkirkara are determined to step up their title challenge and have been working hard in the past few days to strengthen their squad and have identified Kemar Reid as the perfect addition to their forward line.
Reid have been hampered by injury this season and the English-born forward is finding it hard to force his way back into Floriana’s starting formation.
Sources close to Birkirkara FC told the Times of Malta that the Stripes are “in advanced talks” with Floriana FC in a bid to bring in the Malta international striker on a permanent basis.
On the other hand, sources close to Floriana FC have confirmed that a number of clubs had sounded their interest for Reid and added that the Greens “are evaluating the situation” before taking a decision on the future of their speedy forward.
Talks are expected to continue in the coming days and Birkirkara are hopeful of a positive conclusion in the coming days.
Birkirkara have parted ways with Seth Paintsil, Juan Jose Siafa Etoha and Maicon, who have now returned to his former club Naxxar Lions.
So far, Birkirkara have brought in two signings, Alex Alves, from Gżira United and Jonathan Makoma.
