Ħamrun striker Menacho and Floriana’s winger Sotomayor to arrive in Malta on Wednesday night

Premier League rivals Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana will finally welcome their latest additions on Wednesday night as Bolivian players Cesar Menacho and Gabriel Sotomayor are expected to arrive in Malta after a protracted saga on their travelling documents.

Earlier this month, Ħamrun Spartans announced that they had signed Bolivian international striker Cesar Menacho while his national team team-mate Gabriel Sotomayor was announced as a new signing for Floriana.

However, both Menacho and Sotomayor were not able to make the trip to Malta due to visa problems, leaving both Premier League clubs working around the clock trying to solve the administrative issues surrounding both players’ transfers.

Club officials from both Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana revealed in the past few days that since there is no Bolivian Embassy in Malta, the issue needed more time to be resolved and both Menacho and Sotomayor flew to Rome to try and gain access to our country through the Bolivian Embassy in Italy.

Officials from Ħamrun Spartans and Floriana were constantly in contact in the past few days with the Bolivian Embassy to ensure the necessary paperwork for both players is issued so that they can finally make their trip to Malta.

Gabriel Sotomayor is on his way to join his team-mates at Floriana FC.

Having received the necessary documents in Rome, Menacho and Sotomayor are expected to travel to Malta on Wednesday night to finally join their new team-mates for their first training session on Thursday.

Menacho is expected to make himself available for the Spartans for Saturday’s clash against Birkirkara while Sotomayor can make his debut against Żabbar St Patrick on Sunday.
