The Assikura Women’s Knock-Out Cup starts this month as the quarter-finals promise thrilling encounters, with newly crowned league champions Swieqi United set to face Hibernians, and defending champions Birkirkara taking on Mġarr United.

Swieqi recently secured their first-ever Assikura Women’s League title, completing a historic season. Now, they have their sights set on achieving a remarkable domestic treble. Standing in their way are Hibernians, in a clash that echoes the 2023 final – when Swieqi defeated Hibs to claim their first major silverware in women’s football.

Meanwhile, Birkirkara – who have dominated the domestic scene in recent years – find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Dethroned by Swieqi in the league and beaten in the Super Cup back in December, the Stripes are determined to salvage their season by retaining the domestic cup.

Their opponents, Mġarr, finished runners-up in the league and are chasing their first-ever major trophy.

The final is pencilled for Thursday, May 1.
