MFA Disciplinary Commissioner issues punishments over Mosta-Żabbar brawl

The Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner handed punishments to several players and officials from Mosta and Żabbar St Patrick concerning the brawl that ensued at the end of the 360 Sports Malta Premier match that was played at the Gozo Stadium last Saturday.

Mosta scored two injury-time goals to secure a 2-1 win over Żabbar St Patrick and book a place in the Top Six of the Closing Round.

But just before the final whistle and after the match came to an end there were scuffles between players and officials from both clubs with the police called onto the pitch to try and restore order.

The Malta FA announced earlier this week that they had opened an investigation into the events at the Gozo Stadium and had appointed a Disciplinary Inspector to investigate the case independently who will be submitting his recommendations on the case.

The MFA also announced that on Tuesday they issued a number of charges against the involved clubs and will be discussed in front of the Board of Control, Discipline and Ethics in the coming days.

Żabbar St Patrick will be without several players for their upcoming matches following their involvement in Saturday’s melee.

Coach Aniello Parisi was suspended until May 1 while goalkeper Justin Haber was slapped with a five-match ban after he was sent off from the dug-out by the referee.

Strahinja Jovancic was banned for two matches while Felix Bonilha and Kristian Keqi were both suspended for three matches.

Vinicius also received a one-match ban. Żabbar officials Andrew Quiroga has been suspended until August 1 while Anthony Farrugia was banned until November 1.

Mosta had forward Prince Chibuzor handed a two-match ban while club officials Tyrone Farrugia, was suspended until April 1, 2026, while Adrian Farrugia was slapped with a four-match ban.

Elsewhere, Melita’s Gareth Barone was handed a one-match ban following his dismissal in the 5-0 defeat to Melita.

Floriana will be without defender Guy Yameogo for their clash against Sliema Wanderers after he picked his fourth yellow card against Hibernians last weekend.
