Sliema ASC sign Greek superstar Vlachopoulos

Sliema ASC have announced the signing of Greek star Angelos Vlachopoulos for the 2025 season.

The capture of Vlachopoulos is a major transfer coup for Sliema who are looking to defend the league and cup double won last season.

The Greek international player arrives in Malta with a distinguished player career and is renowned for his exceptional skills and impressive track record at both club and international level.

During his career, Vlachopoulos won several domestic titles in Greece, winning several league championships and national cup medals with NC Vouliagmeni and Olympiacos.

After his spell in Greece he moved to Italy where he joined CN Posillipo and then moved to Hungarian club Egri VK.

In season 2020-21 season, he returned to Italy where he donned the colours of AN Brescia.

At AN Brescia, he led the team to the league title and went on to finish as the leading scorer in the LEN Champions League that year.

The following season he moved to Serbia where he featured for VK Novi Beograd where he played a pivotal role in securing the Serbian Championship, the Adriatic League title as well as reaching the LEN Champions League finals in successive seasons.

On the international stage, Vlachopoulos was instrumental in helping his country Greece winning an historic silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. For Greece this was their first ever Olympic medal in waterpolo.

Vlachopoulos also helped Greece secure bronze medals at the 2015 and 2022 World Championships.
