Roko Prsa has confirmed his departure from Ħamrun Spartans after three successful seasons at the Malta champions.
The Times of Malta last week had reported that Spartans president Joseph Portelli had told the club fans that Prsa would not continue his career with Ħamrun Spartans during the Annual General Meeting.
Despite the announcement, during the past few days speculation was rife that Prsa was still in talks with the Spartans over a possible new deal.
But on Thursday, the Croatian midfielder ended all speculation by announcing his departure from Ħamrun Spartans.
Posting a number of pictures depicting memorable moments with the Spartans, Prsa announced that his adventure with Ħamrun Spartans had come to an end.
“Since I believe pictures are worth a thousand words, here are some from the first to my last goal I scored by playing for Hamrun Spartans,” Prsa wrote.
“I truly believe everything happens for a reason in life, Ħamrun gave me a lot and I enjoyed every second of it.
“I want to thank my team-mates, coaches, everybody working on and off the pitch, the committee and the people who made playing for Ħamrun Spartans so elating and memorable, the fans.
“It is time to say goodbye.”
Prsa joined Ħamrun Spartans in the summer of 2022 and turned out to be a great coup for the Reds.
The 29-year-old left an instant impact, forming a formidable midfield partnership with Matthew Guillaumier to steer the team to a historic qualification to the Play-Off round of the Conference League.
Prsa helped the Spartans to win three league titles, with his biggest impact coming last May when he scored the winner in the Top Four final against Birkirkara.
Added to that, the 29-year-old also helped the club to win two Super Cups.
It is understood that Prsa could still continue his career in Maltese football as he is attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs, but no deal has been sealed so far.
