Mattia Veselji returns to Floriana FC

Floriana FC have brought back to their club Malta young striker Mattia Veselji, the Premier League club announced.

The 23-year-old forward returns with the Greens after a short spell in Serbia with second division side Smederevo.

Veselji, the son of former Valletta and Floriana striker Nenad, has started his career in Serbia in the youth ranks of OFK Belgrade.

In 2019, he moved to Malta where he joined St Andrews, where he was promoted to the first team.

Two years later, he made the move to Floriana and with the Greens he spent the next four seasons and was part of the side that won the FA Trophy in season 2021-22.

Last January, Veselji decided to move back to Serbia with Smederevo, where he made 13 appearances.

At Floriana, Veselji will be looking to not only establish himself in the first team but also boost his chances of being re-selected for the Malta national team.

Veselji represented Malta at U-21 level 19 times, scoring six goals.
