Ħamrun Spartans bring in Swiss winger Merlin Hadzi

Ħamrun Spartans unveiled yet another new signing as they confirmed the acquisition of Swiss winger Merlin Hadzi.

Hadzi came through the youth ranks of Young Boys, where he represented them at U-18 and U-21 level. During that stint, he twice finished as the leading scorer in U-17 league with 12 goals and in the U-18 championship after netting 20 goals.

The 26-year-old is a former Swiss international and was on the books of Swiss top-flight side FC Chiasso for two seasons between 2019 and 2021.

In 2022, he joined Liechtenstein’s top club FC Vaduz and he helped them to two league titles. However, their biggest achievement was reaching the group stages of the UEFA Conference League.

In 2024, he returned to Switzerland, where he moved to Rapperswill-Jona and FC Paradiso.

Hadzi is in line to make his Ħamrun debut on Wednesday when they face FK Zalgiris in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, first leg tie, in Vilnius, on Wednesday.
