Steve Borg returns to Valletta FC

Steve Borg will make a return to his former club Valletta FC, the Times of Malta can confirm.

The Malta international defender enjoyed a successful stint with the capital club, between 2009 and 2019, bar a short stint in Cyprus with Aris Limassol, with whom he won five league titles and two FA Trophy medals.

After leaving the Citizens, he moved to Gżira United for two seasons before heading to Ħamrun Spartans in 2022.

With the Spartans, Borg continued his winning streak, winning three league titles and the Super Cup on two occasions.

His contract with Ħamrun expired at the end of last season but was not offered a new contract, a decision that didn’t go down too well with the veteran defender, who was keen to extend his playing career.

Valletta immediately entered the race to secure his signature, and the veteran defender was happy to rejoin the Capital club and help them in their first season back in the top-flight.
