Ħamrun Spartans have finalised the signing of Belgian forward Mouad El Fanis.
The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks of top Belgian clubs Club Brugge and Standard Liege and is seen by the Malta champions as a player who can establish himself as an important player in Giacomo Modica’s squad.
The 21-year-old is a versatile forward who can play not only as an attacking midfielder but also is capable of operating both as a left winger and a right winger.
The Moroccan-born forward has played in the Belgian Challenger Pro League where he amassed 22 appearances and scored two goals.
El Fanis has also represented Belgium at the youth level, and he has 11 appearances for the Belgian U-18 national team, scoring three goals.
He also played for the Belgian U-19 side, where he was capped twice.
El Fanis is the latest young overseas player joining the club after on Sunday night the Spartans announced the acquisition of Senegalese-born forward Saliou Thioune.
The Ħamrun Spartans side will make their European debut this summer on Wednesday when they travel to Lithuanian side FK Zalgiris in the opening leg of the first qualifying round of the Champions League.
