Marsa has welcomed a brand-new cricket team to its sporting community with the official launch of the Ferruggia Fleet Marsa Mavericks.
The team, which will represent Marsa Sports Club in all domestic cricket leagues and competitions, brings together the club’s seasoned players and employees from Ferruggia Fleet, a prominent Marsa-based company.
The official launch took place on Tuesday, August 26, at Marsa Sports Club, where players, club representatives, and company officials gathered for the inaugural team meeting.
The event was followed by an impromptu net practice session, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey for the Mavericks.
Speaking at the launch, Nowel Khosla, captain of the Ferruggia Fleet Marsa Mavericks, said:
“This is an incredible opportunity for us to bring together cricket enthusiasts from the club and Ferruggia Fleet. We’re looking forward to competing, growing as a team, and representing Marsa with pride.”
Lee Tuck, speaking on behalf of Marsa Sports Club, added: “The formation of this team is a testament to the strong community spirit in Marsa. Partnering with Ferruggia Fleet allows us to combine experience, enthusiasm, and fresh energy, which will make the Mavericks a force to watch.”
Ferruggia Fleet, a locally based company in Marsa, has long been involved in supporting local initiatives. The collaboration with Marsa Sports Club reflects the company’s commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting sports at the grassroots level.
Marsa Sports Club, one of Malta’s most iconic sporting institutions, has been at the heart of cricket in the country for decades. The addition of the Ferruggia Fleet Marsa Mavericks to its roster of teams marks an exciting new chapter in its proud history.
The Mavericks aim to make a strong impact on the local cricket scene in the coming season. With a blend of experience and fresh talent, the team is set to bring energy, sportsmanship, and passion to the field.
As preparations continue, the Marsa Mavericks have one goal in mind – to play hard, play fair, and make their mark on Maltese cricket.
In a statement, the Marsa Sports Club wished the team every success in their upcoming competitions.
