Maltese waterpolo sensation Jayden Cutajar continues to make headlines across Europe. Fresh off an outstanding showing for Partizan in Serbia’s Regional Premier League – widely regarded as one of the strongest leagues in the world – the 18-year-old also earned recognition among the top scorers at the 2025 European U-18 Men’s Elite Waterpolo Championships in Oradea.
Cutajar ranked fifth overall in the tournament’s elite division with 20 goals, competing against the continent’s best young prospects.
The list was led by Greece’s Dimitrios Chatzis (31), followed by Ilias Angelopoulos (30) and Hungary’s Mor Benedek (28), underlining the exceptional calibre of talent in which the Maltese youngster already finds himself.
Just days after his U18 heroics, Cutajar carried that form into the domestic level.
Facing European powerhouse Novi Beograd, he scored three goals in Partizan’s 13-10 defeat – a match decided early, but one that highlighted his poise and finishing ability under pressure.
Despite Novi’s 8-1 lead after the first quarter, Cutajar’s confident attacking and determination helped inspire a spirited late surge from Partizan.
A product of Sliema ASC in Malta, Cutajar has risen quickly through the ranks to earn his place not only in Partizan’s senior setup but also in the Malta national team.
His combination of speed, precision, and composure continues to draw praise from coaches and scouts across Europe.
For Malta, his success serves as another powerful statement of the nation’s growing influence on the international waterpolo scene.
For Cutajar, it’s just the beginning – a young player proving that he can compete and thrive at the very top level of the sport.
