Nicky Grixti has decided to return to his roots after agreeing a move to Sirens ASC.
The Malta goalkeeper had been with the St Paul’s Bay club at the start of his career, but in 2019 he had decided to make the move to Sliema ASC.
At Sliema ASC, Grixti helped the club to a league and cup double last season, while also lifting the Winter League title in 2022.
But after six years, with the Blues, Grixti has now decided to return to the St Paul’s Bay club.
“We’re proud to confirm that goalkeeper Nicky Grixti has decided to return to the club. One of Malta’s most experienced and reliable figures between the posts, Nicky’s leadership and presence continue to be an asset both in and out of the water,” Sirens said in a statement.
“With countless key saves and calm under pressure, Nicky remains a pillar in our squad as we gear up for another competitive season.”
Grixti is not the only signing Sirens have completed in the past couple of days as they have also confirmed the arrival of Matthew Mifsud, who was on the books of Valletta ASC.
“We’re excited to announce that Matthew Mifsud, formerly of Valletta United W.P.C., has signed with Sirens ASC on a long-term contract,” Sirens said in a statement.
“Matthew brings with him experience at the highest level, having been selected for Malta’s senior national team.
Welcome to the Sirens Family, Matthew – we can’t wait to see you in our colours.”
Meanwhile, Sirens also announced that Jake Cachia will be leaving the club to join Sliema ASC.
Cachia had been with the St Paul’s Bay outfit for the past three years but is now seeking a new challenge at Sliema ASC.
“After three committed seasons at Sirens ASC, Jake Cachia will be making the move to Sliema for the upcoming campaign,” Cachia said.
“Jake was a key part of our squad both in and out of the pool, and we thank him for his hard work, dedication, and passion during his time with us.
“We wish you the best of luck in your next chapter, Jake!”
