Standings (after MD9)
Mġarr United 27; Hibernians, Swieqi United 19; Birkirkara 9; San Ġwann 4; Valletta 1.
Mġarr United continued their impressive run in the Assikura Women’s League, securing their ninth win on the trot and staying perfect.
The Greens have now opened an eight-point lead at the top after last Thursday’s 0-0 draw between Hibernians and Swieqi United, both sitting in second place.
Mġarr opened a two-goal lead in the first half through Valeria Villegas and Maria Hernandez. After the break, the Greens added a third through Amber Grech.
Birkirkara pulled one back through youngster Maia Gauci but it was not enough to rally a comeback.
Elsewhere, San Ġwann picked up their first win of the season after beating Valletta 4-2.
San Ġwann move to four points while Valletta remain at the bottom with just one point to show for their efforts.
