University of Malta go three points clear in men’s league

During a week in which the women’s league was on pause, the men’s futsal championship continued.

University of Malta Futsal strengthened their position at the top after a commanding win, while the teams behind them remained close.

University of Malta defeated Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA 12-2, a result that prevented Żejtun from moving closer to the top positions, while the University secured an important and small advantage at the summit as they are three points ahead of GZR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal.

Futsal Selection U19 earned their first points of the season after beating Futsal Selection U17 4-0, with the U17 side remaining the only team still without points.

In the week’s other match, Marsaskala Futsal Legends beat GZR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal 7-4, with Karl Luke Schembri shining as he scored six goals for Marsaskala.

This win allowed Marsaskala to draw level with Birżebbuġa in second place, although Birżebbuġa have a game in hand, and both remain three points behind the University of Malta.
