Neptunes have completed a major transfer coup as they have completed the signing of Ivan Nagaev, the Times of Malta can confirm.
On the other hand, Jake Muscat’s future at Neptunes is set to be resolved as he is set to move to rivals San Ġiljan.
Nagaev has been in the news lately after being awarded a Maltese passport and will represent the national team in the upcoming European Championship finals, which will be played in Serbia next month.
Contacted by theTimes of Malta, Neptunes president Matthew Bonello confirmed that his club has been in talks with Nagaev for a few days, and an agreement is in place for the left-hander to return to Maltese waterpolo.
“We are delighted that Ivan Nagaev has agreed to join Neptunes,” Bonello told the Times of Malta.

“He is a very talented player, and will surely boost our ranks, particularly because he will be able to play for us as a Maltese player.”
For Nagaev, Neptunes will be the third club that he has played for, as in the past years he was also on the books of Marsaxlokk and Valletta.
On the other hand, Jake Muscat’s future at Neptunes has finally been resolved after San Ġiljan had an offer for the Malta international accepted by the Balluta Bay club.
Muscat has been at the centre of a transfer saga this summer after he was first courted by Sirens, who had an offer accepted by Neptunes.
However, San Ġiljan also showed interest in signing the player, but their offer was turned down by Neptunes, despite the player’s interest in moving to the Malta champions.
The transfer saga finished in front of the ASA Tribunal, with Neptunes managing to keep hold of the player.
However, in the past week, San Ġiljan returned with an improved offer which has been accepted by Neptunes and the player is set to finalise his move in the coming hours.
