Valletta FC youngster Keyon Ewurum is closing on a major move in his career as the talented forward is in advanced talks to join Italian Serie A side Torino, the Times of Malta can reveal.
Ewurum is seen by many as one of the best prospects in Maltese football and his talent has not gone unnoticed, as top officials from Torino have been scouting the 18-year-old forward for several months and have now made an official approach to secure his services.
In fact, Ewurum spent the last week on trial with Torino and he has impressed the Italian club’s technical staff to the extent that the Italian club have sent an offer to Valletta FC for the player.
It is understood that Ewurum will move to Torino on loan until the end of the season with the option of making the transfer permanent in the summer.
The club refused to confirm the news on Ewurum’s imminent move to Italy; however, sources close to the Premier League outfit told the Times of Malta that the club’s top officials have been very supportive of making the move happen, as this represents far more than a single transfer.
The source said that this transfer will be a tangible outcome of the Club’s Gen-V project – a structured development model designed to identify, nurture, and showcase young talent while removing traditional barriers that often prevent early-career players from accessing top-tier opportunities.
Sources close to the club, told the Times of Malta said that unlike conventional approaches that prioritise short-term transfer fees, last year Valletta FC implemented a player-friendly pathway which allows young prospects to move on loan to reputable foreign clubs at no cost when genuine sporting opportunities arise.
“The policy is intended to accelerate development, enhance exposure, and ultimately create stronger long-term value for both player and club,” the source said.
Ewurum is understood to have attracted attention for his physical profile, technical composure, and adaptability with his senior national team debut last year exposing him to the international stage, strengthening his profile even further.
For Maltese football more broadly, the move is another signal that local clubs can serve as credible launchpads into Europe’s top leagues when governance, development, and ambition are aligned.
“As Valletta FC continue to rebuild around integrity, youth development, and sustainability, should the transfer materialise, the Ewurum transfer may prove to be one of the clearest early markers of its Gen-V vision taking shape,” the source said.
