Valletta FC have confirmed that young forward Keyon Ewurum has join Italian Serie A side Torino.
On Sunday, the Times of Malta revealed that the Citizens were in advanced talks with Torino over the transfer of Ewurum. The 18-year-old has now completed formalities to join the Granata on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the move permanent.
“Valletta Football Club has reached an agreement with Italian Serie A club Torino Football Club for the loan transfer of 18-year-old Keyon Ewurum for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, with an option for a permanent transfer,” the Premier League club said in a statement.
“This opportunity follows sustained scouting interest from Torino FC and reflects both the player’s rapid development and the club’s commitment to providing elite pathways for its most promising young talents.
“The proposed arrangement is fully aligned with the Club’s Gen-V strategy, a player-centric development framework designed to nurture young talent while ensuring that opportunities at top-level European clubs are not obstructed.
“Under this policy, Valletta FC facilitates moves to reputable clubs where a clear sporting pathway exists, allowing players to prove themselves in high-performance environments before longer-term decisions are taken.”
On his part, president Claudio Grech described Ewurum’s move as a landmark moment for everyone involved.
“This is a landmark moment – for Keyon, for Valletta FC, and for our Gen-V project. Keyon’s journey is a clear example of how talent, hard work, and the right club philosophy can align,” Grech said.
“We made a deliberate decision to adopt a player-friendly model that puts development first. When a serious, credible club like Torino FC comes calling, our role is not to block ambition but to support it responsibly, while safeguarding the long-term interest of both the player and the club.
“This move sends a strong message: Valletta FC is once again a platform where young players can grow, be seen, and progress to the highest levels of the game.
“This is the result of years of commitment to youth development and I would like to specifically thank Head Coach Alessandro Piscina, Academy chairman James McKay and former president Alexander Fenech, who believe in Keyon’s potential since his early development years.”
