Floriana FC have completed the signing of Malta international attacking midfielder Paul Mbong.
Mbong has been struggling for first-team football at Serbian top-flight side FK Cukaricki, and when the opportunity arrived that he could move back to Malta, the former Birkirkara player jumped at the chance to return home.
It is understood that the 24-year-old will return to Malta on loan until the end of the season.
“Floriana FC is pleased to announce the signing of Maltese international Paul Mbong,” the Premier League side said in a statement.
“The 24-year-old winger joins the club from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Čukarički, signing until the end of the season. Paul brings pace, experience and attacking quality, and now looks ahead to a new chapter in green and white.
“We welcome Paul to the Floriana family and wish him every success with the club.”
Mbong, who made only five appearances for FK Cukaricki this season, is the second Malta international player who returned to the Maltese Premier League during the winter transfer window.
Earlier last month, Matthew Guillaumier decided to return to his former club Ħamrun Spartans.
Paul Mbong is expected to attend his first training session with Floriana on Thursday and could make his debut against Gżira United on Sunday.
