Kurt Shaw is back at Hibernians after his contract with Italian club Sorrento was terminated this week.
The Malta international midfielder had been on the books of Sorrento since the start of the season, but struggled for first-team football.
This month, the Malta international was set to leave Sorrento and was in talks with two other Italian clubs.
However, his proposed move to another Italian club fell through, and Shaw found himself without a club as Sorrento had already brought two new players to fill his void.
Facing a situation where he was a free agent, Shaw decided to return to the Maltese Premier League, and he agreed on personal terms with his former club Hibernians.
Coach Branko Nisevic, in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s derby against Tarxien Rainbows, had revealed that Shaw was close to returning to the Paola club.
“Defender Kurt Shaw has played with us before and would be a great addition if he returns,” Nisevic said.
“We’ll confirm once everything is finalized.”
That confirmation has now arrived from his club Hibernians and Shaw will be available for Saturday’s derby against Tarxien Rainbows.
