Qormi Daikin crowned hockey championship for the 17th time

Qormi Daikin reconfirmed their status as the Malta hockey champions with a convincing victory last weekend.

Qormi Daikin have been crowned hockey champions for the 17th time in their history after defeating GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks 7-4.

The team, led by Andre Ghio, needed just one point to mathematically secure the title, but went on to claim all three points with a highly convincing performance.

Tommy Kok was the standout performer for Qormi, netting a hat-trick, while Nathan Pace Gasan added a brace.

Kyle Micallef and Julian Zahra also got their name on the scoresheet to complete the victory.

For Żurrieq, Christ Agius scored twice, with Nicky Runza and Stefano Schembri also finding the net to reduce the deficit.

At the final whistle, celebrations began among Qormi’s players, officials, and numerous supporters.

The champions still have to play their two remaining league fixtures against Floriana and White Hart before being officially presented with the trophy.

In another match from the championship, Floriana Young Stars registered a comfortable 5-0 victory over White Hart.
