Gżira United sign former Benfica youth player Francisco Saldanha

Gżira United have completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Francisco Saldanha, the Premier League club announced.

The 25-year-old becomes Gżira’s first signing of the close season as the Maroons look to establish themselves among the top sides in the division.

“Gżira United FC is delighted to announce the signing of 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder Francisco Saldanha,” the club said in a statement.

“A player developed at Benfica, one of Portugal’s biggest clubs and a former youth international who proudly captained his country, Francisco arrives with quality, leadership, and valuable experience.

“Now it’s time for a new challenge, a new chapter, and a new journey in maroon and sky blue.”

 Saldanha’s arrival at Gżira United marks the start of several changes in the team’s foreigners’ line-up.

Earlier this week, Gżira United announced that they had parted ways with five overseas players, namely Mihajlo Stojanovic, Stasa Bastic, Fabricio Kante , Santiago Martinez and Johan Bonilla.
