Yuri Messias set to join Birżebbuġa St Peter’s

Yuri Messias is set to be Birżebbuġa St Peter’s first signing of the summer after the Brazilian forward has agreed terms with the newly-promoted Premier League side.

Messias is coming from a fine season with Valletta FC, which saw the Brazilian forward inspire the Citizens to a memorable cup double after lifting both the Jubilee Cup and the FA Trophy.

The prolific forward has collected 43 appearances for the Capital Club and scored 18 goals.

Sources have told Times of Malta that the much-travelled Brazilian forward is set for a new experience with Birżebbuġa St Peter’s.

It is understood that the player has signed a pre-contract with Birżebbuġa, who are determined to put on a strong showing in their first experience in the Malta Premier League.

Messias has already agreed personal terms with Birżebbuġa St Peter’s and is expected to put pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Should the transfer go through, Birżebbuġa St Peter’s would be the ninth Maltese clubs that has engaged the services of Messias.

Earlier in his career, the 34-year-old was also on the books of Mosta, Naxxar Lions, Nadur Youngsters, Msida St Joseph, Gudja United, Gżira United, Marsaxlokk and Valletta.
