Ħamrun Spartans completed a major signing when they acquired the services of Malta International player Jake Grech.
For Grech, a move to Ħamrun Spartans marks a return to his own roots as the talented midfielder came through the youth ranks of the club and also made his senior debut in the Premier League with them.
Grech was handed his Premier League debut by the Spartans as a 15-year-old and went on to make 76 appearances and score 27 goals.
Grech went on to don the colours of Birkirkara, Hibernians and Balzan before he headed to Floriana in an exchange deal involving
Grech’s arrival is a huge boost for the Spartans as they are acquiring a player who played a key role in Floriana’s title-winning run last season.
Grech made 38 appearances for Floriana and scored 15 goals in what was one of the best seasons to date, while also leaving his mark on the international scene, scoring Malta’s winner in a 1-0 win over Finland in a World Cup qualifier
Added to that, Grech could be a major asset as he has the ability to play in various positions in midfield.
Grech is Ħamrun Spartans fifth signing in the past few weeks following the arrival of left back Tobias Bjornstad, defender Messie Biatoumoussoka, midfielders Ante Coric and Jack Ipalibo and forward Emmanuel Ernest.
