Valletta Women have announced the signing of Malta women’s national team captain Emma Lipman as the club continues to build its ambitious project ahead of the new season.
The experienced defender joins the newly-formed side after a distinguished career that has taken her across England and Italy, where she represented clubs including Manchester City, Roma, Lazio, Como and Genoa.
In a statement, Valletta described Lipman as “a player of exceptional quality both on and off the pitch” and highlighted the leadership and winning mentality she will bring to the club.
“Throughout her distinguished career, she has represented top clubs while also captaining Malta’s national team, demonstrating her character, professionalism and ability to lead by example,” Valletta said in their statement.
Lipman, who has become one of the leading figures in Maltese women’s football since making her international debut in 2019, arrives with extensive experience at both club and international level.
Her signing comes just days after Valletta unveiled plans for an ambitious women’s football project aimed at establishing the club among the leading forces in the domestic game.
