Sliema Wanderers have appointed Branko Nisevic as their new first-team coach.
The Times of Malta last month reported that the Serbian coach was in advanced talks to replace Pablo Doffo whose services were not retained at the end of last season.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Branko Nisevic as the Club’s new Head Coach,” Sliema Wanderers said in a statement.
“A highly experienced coach within Maltese football, Branko brings with him a wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a proven track record at the highest level of the local game.
“We warmly welcome Branko to our club and wish him every success in his new role.”
The Wanderers have turned to the Serbian coach to try and bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 season.
Despite the hefty investment during last summer’s transfer window they were beaten in the final of the Jubillee Cup and then suffered a surprising defeat to Swieqi United in the FA Trophy and failed to challenge for the league title after slipping in the Bottom Six in the Closing Round.
After parting ways with coach Paul Zammit midway through the season, the Blues appointed Doffo as interim coach until the end of the campaign but have now decided to appoint a new first team coach.
Nisevic will now have the task of rebuilding the Sliema Wanderers squad and try to turn them into title challengers
