Second stint in Taiwan after time in China
Malta international Samuel Deguara has returned to Taiwan to play for the Tainan TSG GhostHawks, the team announced on Friday.
The well-travelled centre heads back to the GhostHawks after a stint in Hong Kong where he played for the Hong Kong Golden Bulls in the Chinese National Basketball League – China’s second tier.
Deguara had made history back then as the team was the first of Hong Kong origin to play in a Chinese league.
Before that, the Malta star had faced the likes of former NBA star Dwight Howard. He played 34 games, averaging 30.6 minutes a game with the GhostHawks in his first stint. He finished his commitments with the club with an average of 19.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and close to a block per game.
Upon his return, Deguara said he was happy to be back.
“I’m excited to be back with Tainan GhostHawks. I appreciate the organization who have allowed me to come back,” he told the club’s socials.
According to the club, Deguara will be heading home to Malta for a period of rest after the end of the Chinese NBL season which saw the team finish seventh, and will be joining the Taiwanese team in October.
