Falcons Rugby Club have announced that they have postponed their title celebrations which was originally scheduled for this weekend due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Malta.
The club was enjoying one of its best seasons in the MRFU leagues, both in the men and women’s categories, before the championship was stopped due to the Covid-19 as both selections were leading their respective standings without a defeat.
The Falcons’ women won all their 12 games with a total of 384 points in favour and only 34 points against.
The men’s side performance was likewise impressive, managing a mathematical win of the MRFU Cisk Lager League before the interruption of the season due to Covid-19, making Falcons the first team to win the league in February.
“Being the first league win for the Falcons’ senior men’s side since the club’s inception, the celebrations were highly anticipated,” the club said in a statement.
“However the club’s committee felt that due to the current circumstances and for the safety of all involved, this is the best option available.”
No timeframe has been set on when these celebrations will be held.
