Richard Schulteis and Max Korner strengthened their top position in the 29er class at the Fraglia Della Vela Riva regatta in Lake Garda, on Sunday.
The talented Maltese sailor and his German team-mate started the day with a third placing in the fifth regatta before stepping up their game and winning the following race to further underline their superiority.
Richard Schulteis and Max Korner ended the day with a ninth-place finish that had little effect on their top status as they continued to lead the way with 18 net points.
The Malta Young Sailing Club sailor Schulteis and Korner are currently holding a commanding nine-point lead over Slovenia’s Rok Verderber and Daniel Cante who are on 27 net points.
Antonia Schulteis failed to keep the early momentum that had seen her and partner Ole Ulrich holding second place after the opening four regattas.
In fact, Antonia Schulteis and Ulrich placed seventh in the first regatta on the day but then slipped to 26th in the second race before ending their commitments with a sixth-place finish to end with a total of 50 net points that saw them go down to fifth place.
The event continues today when the participants start the decisive phase of the competition.
