Dodo’s Cape Verde have made it to their third Africa Cup of Nations after claiming a 1-0 win over Mozambique in their final qualification game, on Tuesday.
Cape Verde were in need of a victory to secure qualification and a 58th minute own goal by Mozambique’s Faisal Bangal was enough for Dodo’s team to qualify for their first continental tournament since 2015.
While he was not selected for their first game of this double-header against Cameroon, Dodo was an unused substitute in Mozambique.
In their previous appearances, Cape Verde made it to the quarter-finals in 2013 and were eliminated in the group stages in 2015.
Elsewhere, Mosta’s Christoffer Matoumbi won’t be joining Dodo in next January’s tournament after Congo Republic succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Guinea-Bissau, with the later advancing at Congo’s expense.
