Birkirkara have announced Michael Valenzia as the new club president prior to the upcoming 2021/2022 season.
Earlier this month, the Times of Malta had revealed that Frank Zarb was stepping down as club president with Valenzia tipped as favourite to take his place.
Valenzia, who occupied the role of vice-president before today, was one of the persons that had put his name forward.
He has been working with the club for several years and held important positions in the club administration such as technical director.
Zarb had been at the helm of the club for the past four years and had succeeded Adrian Delia who had left his post following his decision to enter politics.
He had informed the club of his decision after speculations over his position had been ongoing for a few months as he had hinted that his time as Birkirkara FC president was coming to an end.
The long-term goal of the new club administration is to start a process that would see Birkirkara FC become a private company.
Meanwhile, Valenzia’s former post as vice-president will be filled by Nicholas Grima.
The technical staff under the guidance of coach Andre Paus will consist of Jonathan Holland as assistant coach and U-19’s coach, Enzo Cestaro as physical trainer and Sean Cini as goalkeepers’ coach.
Gaetano Farrugio, who represents several players plying their trade in Maltese football, has been named as the club’s Technical Director.
Birkirkara will commence their pre-season training today as they will start their build-up towards their UEFA Conference League commitments, in July.
