The LEN European Junior Artistic Swimming Championships, hosted by the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta, continued on Thursday.
The morning programme consisted of the Duet Tech and Mixed Duet Tech, whilst in the evening action returned to the pool when the Duet Free and Mixed Duet Free Finals took place.
In the Duet Tech, Malta was represented by Ana Culic and Valentina Marchi.
Twenty-three entries registered for this class and was won by Violetta Evenko and Elizaveta Minaeva from Russia who scored 91.4742.
They were followed by Olessia Derevianchenko and Anastasiia Soldatenkova, from the Ukraine, who scored 88.0333, whilst in third place was the Spanish duo Gema Arquero Ortiz and Marina Garcia Polo, who scored 85.7742 points.
The Mixed Duet Technical Final saw five countries represented with Spanish duo Maria Bofill Strub and Fernando Diaz Del Rio taking gold with a total score of 83.2086.
They were followed by Italians Edorado Fanton and Claudia Laveglia (79.5798) and French team Madeleine Philippe and Quentin Rakotomalala (79.1208).
Competitions continued in the afternoon with the Duet Free and Mixed Duet Free Finals.
In the Duet Free Final competitions, first and second place were a repeat of the morning’s competitions with Russian duo Violetta Evenko and Elizaveta Minaeva scoring the highest points – 92.5333 followed by Ukrainians Olessia Derevianchenko and Anastasiia Soldatenkova who scored 90.2000.
Spanish duo Gema Arquero Ortiz and Gabriela Fernandez Ceppi claimed third place with 87.1667.
The afternoon ended with the Mixed Duet Free Final competitions.
Spain won gold when Maria Bofill Strub and Dennis Gonzalez Boneu scored 84.000. The morning’s medal winners Edorado Fanton and Claudia Laveglia (Italy) and Madeleine Philippe and Quentin Rakotomalala (France) took silver and bronze respectively.
The LEN European Artistic Swimming Championships will continue on Friday at 10am when the Team Free Finals will take place.
In the afternoon, the Solo Technical Finals will take place at 18.15.
