Sasha Gatt sets second new national record at Europeans in Kazan

Sasha Gatt maintained her impressive form of late when she set another national record at the European Short Course Swimming Championships that are currently being held in Kazan, Russia.

Competing in the 1,500m freestyle event, Gatt clocked a time of 16 minutes 46.28 seconds.

For Gatt this was her second national record in these championships.

On Wednesday, Gatt swam the 800m free in a new national best time of 08:52.04.

Gatt’s performance completely destroyed her previous national best by 12 seconds when she had clocked 9:04.88.

Gatt has two other competitions scheduled in Russia this week, namely the 200m free and the 400m free.

Dylan Cachia and Thomas Wareing are the other Maltese swimmers in Kazan.

Wareing has yet to make his first showing while Cachia has set a new national record on his first appearance this week.

Dylan Cachia swam the 400m Free in a Short Course national record of 03:57.26.

His time was almost six seconds faster than the previous best set by Thomas J. Woods in Istanbul in 2021 when he had completed the distance in 4:03.30.
