Sliema Aquatic Sports Club (ASC) has claimed victory at the COOP Services National Short Course Championships 2025/26, showcasing an extraordinary performance with just 49 swimmers competing.
The team showcased skill and determination over the three days, securing a total of 31 gold medals, breaking multiple records and achieving many personal bests across the entire squad.
Elite Squad swimmers that made history at this year’s nationals were Sasha Gatt who set a new national record in the 400 metres freestyle with a new best of 4.10.92, Matthew Satariano who clocked a new national standard in the 400 medley in 4:20.56 and Sophia Allen, who broke the Age Group D record in the 400 medley when stopping the clock in 5:04.19.
This remarkable success comes after just a few months of work under the club’s new swimming coaching setup.ż
