Maltese swimmers Sasha Gatt, Dylan Cachia and Thomas Wareing continued to set new records at the European Short Course Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Sasha Gatt was in action in the 200 metres freestyle heats and the Sirens swimmer completed the distance in a time of two minutes 03.69 seconds.
Gatt’s time was 0.3 seconds faster than the previous national best of 2:03.91 that was set by Mya Azzopardi in Frosinone on November 2019
Thomas Wareing took part in the 100m Medley.
Wareing completed the heat in a time of 57.23. His effort was more than a second faster than the previous national record of 58.53 set by Mikhail Umnov in Zagreb in November 2017.
In the 800m freestyle competition, Dylan Cachia touched home in 08:11.85.
His effort beat Neil Agius’ previous record of 08:44.20 which was established in October 2009 in England
Maltese swimmers will return to action on Sunday. Sasha Gatt will compete in the 400m freestyle and Thomas Wareing will take part in the 400m Individual Medley.
