Maltese target shooter Eleanor Bezzina ended her commitments at the 38th edition of the international air weapon competition held in Luxembourg this week when she secured back-to-back gold medals in the final two shoots.
Bezzina, who had taken silver in her first outing at the Hall Marcel Balthasar in Strassen, was up against shooters from several European federations in the 10m Match Air Pistol event.
On Friday, Bezzina compiled an overall score of 233.1 points to take the gold medal.
France’s Celine Goberville, who had pipped Bezzina to victory in the first event, had to settle for second place with a score of 232.7.
Finland’s Ritva Karri placed third with a score of 213.2 to return home with the bronze medal.
The third and final competition was held on Saturday.
Here, Bezzina again stamped her authority when she topped the overall standings with an overall score of 234.6 – her highest score of the week.
Celine Goberville, of France, was again forced to settle with the silver medal with a score of 233.5 while Aurore Goberville, of France, was third with 211.3.
