Atalanta reached the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup on Wednesday after seeing off Venezia 2-0 in Bergamo.
Luis Muriel’s cool finish in the 12th minute and Joakim Maehle’s strike two minutes before the end decided an underwhelming contest and put Atalanta into the last eight.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side will face either Napoli or Fiorentina, who play on Thursday, in the next round.
Also playing on Thursday are AC Milan, who face struggling Genoa at the San Siro, with the remaining five fixtures scheduled for next week.
Atalanta sit fourth in Serie A, eight points behind leaders Inter Milan who they host on Sunday.
