Premier League side Valletta are set to strengthen their squad with the acquisition of Colombian left-back Luis Carlos Murillo.
The Citizens were looking to fill the vacuum left by former club captain Joseph Zerafa who joined Hibernians during this winter transfer window.
Club president Alexander Fenech confirmed during a pre-match interview before Gżira United vs Valletta that the Citizens will bring in a Colombian left-back to take that position and that he will be travelling over to Malta next Tuesday.
Murillo, 31, will inject a lot of experience in the Valletta team as he is at the back of a Europa Conference League campaign with Finland’s HJK Helsinki.
In the newly-launched UEFA club competition, Murillo played in all six group games including against Floriana’s latest arrival Rumyan Hovsepyan who was at Alashkert of Armenia previously. Murillo also featured for HJK during the Champions League and Europa League qualifications during the summer.
Prior to his spell at HJK, Murillo played for KuPS in the Finnish league after featuring for Colombian sides Once Caldas and Deportivo Pasto.
