The Matthew Guillaumier transfer saga has come to an end in the final minutes of the Italian window as the Malta international midfielder has completed his move to Siena.
The Ħamrun Spartans captain will be purusing the second half of the 2021/2022 campaign in Italy but instead of signing with Serie B side Reggina, he will be playing in the Italian third-tier.
Guillaumier has put pen to paper on a loan move with Siena having the option to buy the Maltese talent at the end of the season.
Times of Malta understands that Reggina could not bring over the Maltese talent as they failed to part ways with some of their transfer-listed players and therefore they could not make place for Guillaumier.
As reported by this portal, the Spartans brought in Matteo Fedele – a 29-year old Swiss midfielder – as his replacement.
Siena, who are coached by Pasquale Paladino, play in the Serie C – Girone B, as they are vying for a promotion play-off spot.
They have been one of the most active teams on deadline day after bringing in Frosinone duo Paolo Bastianello and Matteo Ardemagni, alongside former Milan youth player Michael Fabbro and former Italy U-20 defender Luca Crescenzi.
